  • Books are signed out for three (3) weeks.
  • Students may borrow two (2) books at a time.
  • The Library does not collect fines for overdue books.  However, students are strongly encouraged to return their books on time.
  • Students are responsible for the books they borrow.  Books need to be returned in good condition.
  • If a book is lost or damaged, students are responsible for purchasing a replacement copy.  Please see Ms. Csizmesia
  • Please be respectful of the other people using the Library when you are browsing for books.  Quiet voices and good manners are always welcome in the Library

📚 How to Find Books at Your Reading Level

You can easily search our library's database to find books that are a great fit for your grade and reading level.
  1. From the Somerset Middle School (SMS) website, hover your mouse over "Media Center" and click on "Library Catalog".
  2. On the catalog page, look for the section titled "Narrow your search to...".
  3. Find the "Interest Level" row. In the "From" box, select your grade level.
  4. In the "To" box for "Interest Level," you must select an end point (like "Young Adult"). The search will not work if this is left as "Unlimited"
  5. If you know your Lexile level, find the "Reading Level" row and enter your level or range in the "From" and "To" boxes
  6. Finally, go to the "Find" bar at the top of the page. Type in a topic you're interested in (like "mystery" or "dragons") and click the "Keyword" or "Subject" button to search.
